Last weekend I had the pleasure of signing at the very first Writers on the River in Peoria, Illinois. Let me tell you, for a first time event I was amazed. It ran smoothly, was very well organized, and a butt load of fun! We had over 200 readers join us in the 4 hours that the doors were open. And the after party was so much fun!

First, let me brag on the people responsible for such an fantastic event – the ladies of Twinsie Talk Book Reviews and Green Moose Productions. Not only was this a well advertised event, they went the extra mile to assure authors and readers alike were comfortable, happy, and having fun. And they hired one of my favorite photographers, Kelsey from K Keeton Designs. Then to push the awesomeness further, they added a photo booth from Treasured Memories Photo Booths. Now that was fun!

We had an informal get-together on Friday night to just say hello and grab a drink. Some sat up their table that evening. Saturday morning we sat up and still had time to make a turn around the room to say hello to the others setting up. The authors took a group photo around 10:30, then we had lunch around 11 so we could get back to our tables and prepare for the readers with VIP tickets, then general admission. The Pair-A-Dice Hotel was a beautiful venue!

Over 80 authors in attendance!

It really was a fantastic day and I’m really looking forward to next year. It was fantastic seeing old friends and making new friends. There are too many to name, but it was great hanging out with this wonderful group of people!

I had a great time that evening having dinner with our new friends Helen and Danielle. I laughed a lot during the after party with Author TK Carter. And I can’t forget to mention the crazy fun I had with Author Emily Pearson. Below I’ve posted some photos from the event that were either taken by Kelsey, the photo booth company, or my phone.

It’s looking like Writers on the River 2017 may happen about the same time next year and I hope you’ll join us! I know I plan to be there!
